How to pack a parcel - A step by step guide

By: Super Admin

STEP 1
  • Prepare the box and packaging materials
Choose a sturdy cardboard box big enough to contain all your items. You can consider reusing an old box if it has no holes or tears. Prepare all the packaging materials required for internal cushioning: polystyrene, packing peanuts and/or bubble wrap.
Pro tip: place a layer of cushioning materials at the bottom of the box to protect the items you will put inside.

STEP 2
  • Protect all the items
Pack and protect each item individually, using bubble wrap or other packaging material. Make sure to protect every face of the item. In case of small parts or items that can be damaged by humidity, put them inside plastic bags.

STEP 3
  • Place items in the box
Use cardboard dividers, packing peanuts or polystyrene to fill empty spaces and prevent items from moving during transport. Pro tip: place the items in the centre of the box, leaving some centimetres for a layer of cushioning materials between items and box sides.

STEP 4
  • Close and seal the box
Close the box and use adhesive tape to seal the parcel. Use an H-shaped taping system: apply one string of tape along the centre seam and one per each edge. Apply the tape both on the top and bottom of the box. For heavier shipments, you can consider using more strips of tape.

STEP 5
  • For additional protection: the box-in-box method
Place your item packed inside a second box, bigger than the previous one. Use cushioning material to fill the space between the two boxes and restrict any movement of the inner box. exclamation Consider using this packaging method when shipping electronics or other delicate items.
